Infants are the first examples of birth from above or by the Holy Spirit, in the New Testament

Baptism as the Bible says is for the birth from above or by the Holy Spirit. The one man John the Baptist send to prepare the way for the New Testament was send forth ‘born of the Holy Spirit even in his mother’s womb’. The only few ‘infants’ in the Gospels are seen to have been baptized on ‘one way or the other’.

Joh:3:3 - 6: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Ac:1:4 – 5, 2:2-4, 16 -17 & 33: And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Ac:2:2: And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Ac:2:16: But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh

Ac:2:33: Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Ac:2:38: Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Ac:9:17-18: And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

Ac:10:44 - 48: While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Ac:11:15, 16: And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.  Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

Baptism by water in turn initiates baptism by the Living Water. Living water is the Holy Spirit. Water in baptism is the visible form of the invisible Living water, the Holy Spirit.

Joh:7:37 - 39: In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.).

The only two infants portrayed in the New Testament Bible, Jesus & John the baptist are born of the Holy Spirit at birth. Jesus as the Holy Bible says was ‘the child of the Holy Spirit’ and ‘conceived by the Holy Spirit’, while of John the Baptist it is said, ‘he shall be born of the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb’. The one named ‘baptist’ and ‘send’ for the purpose of baptizing the baptism of repentance’ is seen as having been born of the Holy Spirit at birth, and Jesus ‘the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit and fire’ as well is seen in His birth as human flesh, as having been born of the Holy Spirit at conception. The introducers of both the Old and the New Baptism is seen to be born of the Holy Spirit at birth.

Christ, the Light of the world, showed us the way and called us to live ‘as light’ among a perverse generation’. The Bible says Jesus lived in every way as we humans do and showed the perfect example. He passed through life as a new born, infancy, youth and manhood. He was the child of the Holy Ghost at conception as a human baby. He passed through every age ‘like unto His brethren’ of course.

Heb:2:14: Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Heb:2:17, 18: Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Heb:4:15: For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Another set of infants shown is the Bible as having received ‘Baptism by blood’ is seen in Mathew. The Holy Innocents, the children from two years and under slaughtered for Christ, of whom prophet Jeremiah had indeed prophesied. Children under 2 years are chosen by the Lord for baptism by blood, then why deny them baptism by water and of the Holy Spirit. It was not just one or two infants who were martyred, but ‘all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof’, who were two years and below (Mt 2:16). These were children who had not reached the age of reason or had a choice but was chosen by the Lord. If infants shown here as part of God’s plan of salvation and martyrdom or baptism by blood then why not baptism by water and the Holy Spirit, who is the ‘Life giving water’.

Also, in later events where infants are involved, they are declared as ‘of the Kingdom’ by the Lord Himself. He also repeats the Old Testament psalm that ‘Out of the mouths of babes and sucklings the Lord has perfected praise’.

Jer:31:15: Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not. Jer:31:16: Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy. Jer:31:17: And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border.

Lu:1:15: For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

Lu:7:28: For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

M't:1:18: Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

Lu:1:35: And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Jer:31:15: Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.

M't:2:16 - 18: Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.

Lu:18:15-17: And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

M't:21:16: And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith unto them, Yea; have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
